Texas A&M Mock Trial is the perfect place for YOU!

"Mock trial is the perfect place for someone pursuing law because it lays the foundation of what it means to be an attorney and provides valuable lessons that you cannot receive anywhere else. Just my one year of being an opening attorney opened several doors to my legal journey. It helped me land my job as a legal assistant at a Mass Torts law firm, gain connections to helpful attorneys in diverse areas of law, opened a network of law students, business professionals, lawyers, and peers that not only support growth and provide opportunities to pre-law students. This organization is an unmatched stepping stone into becoming an attorney." - Insiyah Naqvi '24

"Mock trial has been a huge part of the growth I have had in the past year. Coming into mock trial for the first time, I had no idea what to expect, but l'm so glad I decided to try it out. Mock trial pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me to understand how court cases work, and taught me how to think on my feet. I remember how nervous I was at my first scrimmage, I was unsure of what to say and was scared to mess up, but over time, found more confidence through practice and support from my team. My favorite part of mock trial is constantly getting to learn from my teammates as well as our competitors. Mock trial is truly a team oriented activity where everyone can grow, improve, and keep learning from each other. Mock trial is more than just an activity, it is a space where I found a deeper confidence in myself. Looking back throughout my first year of mock trial, I am proud of how much I have developed, and I know now that the lessons I have taken from it will continue to shape me personally and professionally." "Mock trial is the perfect place for someone not pursuing law. As a student majoring in psychology, mock trial is not really something that comes to mind when thinking of organizations to join. However, this org has many benefits that help contribute to my job goals, as well as personal development. In mock trial, I get to play a witness, so I have to work on my memorization, organization, as well as public speaking skills. I can practice being cross-examined whether it be as a fun, quirky character witness, or even a knowledgeable, professional expert witness. Not only does this help with my future goals, as I am planning on becoming a forensic psychologist who may need to be an expert witness in a case, but it also allows me to make lifelong friendships and have fun at the same time." - Aubriana Ramirez '28

"Mock trial has proven very helpful in my role as a civil rights lobbyist and advocate. In my job, I often testify before legislative committees, answer policy questions from people across the spectrum of hostility, am consulted as an expert by legislative offices and journalists, and collaborate on the strategy behind that work. As a mock trial expert witness, practicing remaining a composed speaker during rapid critical thinking has prepared me well for the real-life testifying that makes up a large portion of my job. I'm able to translate complicated legal information for general audiences and predict and prevent phrasings that can easily be twisted in bad faith thanks to all those fake cross examinations. Performing as a mock trial lawyer built crucial legal analysis and strategy skills that I use daily. Navigating the rules of evidence taught me how to understand the impact of proposed bills on existing code, and developing lines of questioning prepared me to carry myself well in front of media." - Levi Feidler '24
